This updated advisory is a follow-up to the original advisory titled ICSA-22-090-04 Mitsubishi Electric FA Products that was published March 31, 2022, on the ICS webpage on cisa.gov/ics.
Successful exploitation of these vulnerabilities may allow an attacker to log in to the affected products and/or alter and obtain sensitive information.
The following FA products are affected:
--------- Begin Update A Part 1 of 2 ---------
--------- End Update A Part 1 of 2 ---------
This vulnerability allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to log in to the product by replaying an eavesdropped password hash.
CVE-2022-25155 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 5.9 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N).
This vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to log in to the product by using a password reversed from an eavesdropped password hash.
CVE-2022-25156 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 5.9 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N).
This vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to disclose or tamper with the information in the product by using an eavesdropped password hash.
CVE-2022-25157 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.4 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N).
This vulnerability could allow a remote attacker to disclose or tamper with a file where the password hash is saved in cleartext.
CVE-2022-25158 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.4 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N).
This vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to log in to the product by replay attack.
CVE-2022-25159 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 5.9 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N).
This vulnerability could allow a remote unauthenticated attacker to disclose a file in a legitimate userโs product by using previously eavesdropped cleartext information and to counterfeit a legitimate userโs system.
CVE-2022-25160 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 6.8 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:N/A:N).
Anton Dorfman, Dmitry Sklyarov, Iliya Rogachev and Artur Akhatov of Positive Technologies reported these vulnerabilities to Mitsubishi Electric.
Mitsubishi Electric recommends users take the following mitigation measures to minimize the risk of exploitation of these vulnerabilities:
--------- Begin Update A Part 2 of 2 ---------
--------- End Update A Part 2 of 2 ---------
For more information see Mitsubishi Electricโs advisory 2021-031
CISA reminds organizations to perform proper impact analysis and risk assessment prior to deploying defensive measures.
CISA also provides a section for control systems security recommended practices on the ICS webpage on cisa.gov/ics Several recommended practices are available for reading and download, including Improving Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity with Defense-in-Depth Strategies.
Additional mitigation guidance and recommended practices are publicly available on the ICS webpage on cisa.gov/ics in the Technical Information Paper, ICS-TIP-12-146-01BโTargeted Cyber Intrusion Detection and Mitigation Strategies.
Organizations observing any suspected malicious activity should follow their established internal procedures and report their findings to CISA for tracking and correlation against other incidents.
No known public exploits specifically target these vulnerabilities. These vulnerabilities have a high attack complexity.
