TITLE:

SECUNIA ADVISORY ID:
SA16489

VERIFY ADVISORY:
http://secunia.com/advisories/16489/

CRITICAL:
Moderately critical

IMPACT:
Cross Site Scripting

WHERE:
>From remote

SOFTWARE:
Emefa Guestbook 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/5560/

DESCRIPTION:
David Sopas Ferreira has discovered a vulnerability in Emefa
Guestbook, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct
script insertion attacks.

Input passed to the "name", "location", and "email" parameters in
sign.asp isn't properly sanitised before being stored as a guest book
entry. This can be exploited to execute arbitrary script code in a
user's browser session in context of an affected site when a
malicious entry is viewed.

The vulnerability has been confirmed in version 1.2. Other versions
may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Edit the source code to ensure that input is properly sanitised.
