Multiple Dell EMC products are prone to a remote security-bypass vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to obtain sensitive information, bypass security restrictions and perform unauthorized actions. This may aid in further attacks. The following products are vulnerable: Dell EMC Avamar Server versions 7.4.1, 7.5.0, 7.5.1, 18.2, and 19.1 Dell EMC Integrated Data Protection Appliance versions 2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4.
Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
If global access isn’t needed, block access at the network perimeter to computers hosting the vulnerable application.
Run all software as a nonprivileged user with minimal access rights.
To limit the potential damage that successful exploits may achieve, run all nonadministrative software as an unprivileged user.
Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.
Deploy NIDS to monitor network traffic for signs of anomalous or suspicious activity such as unexplained incoming and outgoing traffic. This may indicate exploit attempts or activity that results from successful exploits.
