Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
If applicable, restrict access to the service that is hosting the affected software at the network perimeter. Grant access for trusted hosts and networks only.

Run all software as a nonprivileged user with minimal access rights.
Running software as a user with least privileges possible may help mitigate the impact of a successful exploit attempt. Placing users in a ‘chroot’ jail may also prevent successful exploit attempts

Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.
Successful exploits of these and other vulnerabilities may generate suspicious or anomalous network traffic. Deploy NIDS to monitor traffic for signs of activity that may indicate attack attempts or actions taken as a result of successful exploits.

Currently, we are not aware of any vendor-supplied patches. If you feel we are in error or are aware of more recent information, please mail us at: [email protected].
