D-Link DIR-601 CVE-2019-16327 Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

Description

D-Link DIR-601 is prone to an authentication-bypass vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to bypass authentication mechanism and perform unauthorized actions. This may lead to further attacks. D-Link DIR-601 Router 2.00NA is vulnerable; other versions may also be affected.

Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
Filter access to the affected computer at the network boundary if global access isn’t needed. Restricting access to only trusted computers and networks might greatly reduce the likelihood of a successful exploit.

Deploy NIDS to monitor network traffic for suspicious activity such unexplained incoming and outgoing traffic. This may indicate exploit attempts or activity that results from a successful exploit.

Implement multiple redundant layers of security.
Consider using additional tools to further restrict access for the vulnerable applications via access control security policies.
