Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director CVE-2019-16004 Authentication Bypass Vulnerability

Description

Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director is prone to an authentication-bypass vulnerability. An attacker can exploit this issue to bypass authentication mechanism and perform unauthorized actions with administrative privileges. This may lead to further attacks. This issue is being tracked by Cisco bug ID CSCvr04880. Cisco Vision Dynamic Signage Director versions prior to 6.2 Service Pack 2 are vulnerable.

Recommendations

Block external access at the network boundary, unless external parties require service.
If global access isn’t needed, filter access to the affected device at the network boundary. Restricting access to only trusted computers and networks might greatly reduce the likelihood of exploits.

Deploy network intrusion detection systems to monitor network traffic for malicious activity.
Deploy NIDS to monitor network traffic for signs of anomalous or suspicious activity. This includes but is not limited to unexplained incoming and outgoing traffic. This may indicate exploit attempts or activity that results from successful exploits.
