This vulnerability allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on vulnerable installations of Microsoft Edge. User interaction is required to exploit this vulnerability in that the target must visit a malicious web page and perform a UI action. There are multiple issues with the way the product handles URIs within certain schemes. The product does not warn the user that a dangerous navigation is about to take place. An attacker can manipulate the user interface so that the userâs action is interpreted as permission to proceed with opening a dangerous file. Because special characters in the URI are not sanitized, this could lead to the execution of arbitrary commands. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to execute code in the context of the current user at medium integrity.
